Updates
Hello, SAU #6 Families,
I hope you have had a good week. While I was not able to get to as many schools this week, I have heard from a variety of stakeholders that they feel things were a little smoother in many ways:
More teaching and learning happening, more family engagement around some behavioral needs, more students reporting a better week, and more smiling in many offices/rooms.
I do know that we are still down a few folks in special education particularly. The good news is that we hired 2 new paras. this week for MAES. We also hired two special educators, one for out-of-district placements and one for case management at CMS. We are in the process of hiring some more employees across a few areas in the next few weeks.
I did receive a resignation letter from Jeff Small, Director of Technology, effective 12/5/25. We thank Jeff for his dedication to SAU #6 and wish him well in his next endeavor. More staffing updates will be shared during the Claremont School Board Meeting on Wednesday, 11/19/25 @6:30 pm (SRVRTC).
Jess Macleod, acting Student Services Director, and I recently met with Jennifer Cunha from the Parent Information Center (PIC) and we have a parent/guardian meeting on Tuesday, 11/18/25- Here is the information for Tuesday's discussion. It is from 6 -7pm. Please spread the word in newsletters to families.
The newly developed Superintendent’s Council met today for the first time this year. Our agenda items included the current state of affairs in our district as well as reviewing the recently released NHSAS scores. https://jwt.nh.gov/?src_route=iReport/Overview&debug_session=false&toolbar=Hidden&Width=1300px&Height=1600px¶meters={Search%20for%20School%20or%20District%20Name%20(Master)=Claremont%20(District);School%20or%20District=2;Entity%20ID%20of%20District%20Selected=101;Select%20Year=2025}
Here is a summary-
Our conversation focused on the current needs of our students and the many resources within the community who are supporting those needs. We discussed the gains and benefits to our school district of having all families completing the Free and Reduced Lunch Forms whether they feel they will qualify or not. (More to come on this form and how to complete it if you haven't already). Additional funds, grant allocations and grant opportunities are available to us based on the information gained from these applications. Our final topic was the possibility of additional school reconfigurations to best serve the community in future years. Our next agenda will focus on reviewing the potential models for reconfiguration.
